She is adorable as ever! And it's very nice to see your name popping up
again here, missy.

This one is my favorite, though they are all cute. Thanks for sharing them

Thanks! She's definitely excelling in the entertainment department.

It's been so hot that we haven't been able to do much in terms of
outdoor play. It's even too hot to chase bunnies. So we've been
working on following hand (and foot!) gestures to find treats. I hide
treats outside in the tall grass, then direct her to them.

Thanks! That one cracks me up, because she was making little yodeling
sounds, like she was calling the bunnies to jump into her mouth.

Aw, thank you! I've had some really good sky watching opportunities
lately. The storms have been especially interesting, because they scare
the pants off me. I've found that if I'm taking pictures of them, I'm
less freaked out.

And, if you're feeling hot and miserable, this might cool you off:

This one:
http://www.steves-digicams.com/2003_reviews/dx4530.html

It was relatively inexpensive (under $200), and there are definitely
better cameras out there. I decided, though, that until I can
afford a nice digital SLR, this would be the most bang for my buck.
I've not been disappointed. I'm starting to chafe a bit at its
limitations, which is a good thing, because it means that my
photography skills are improving.

On the plus side, the lens is *nice* for a camera in this price
range, the color is generally pretty good, and it has shake
correction. Battery life is quite good, if you turn off the LCD and
use the actual view finder.

On the con side, it could have a higher optical zoom and better
macro capability, and the lens cap is a pain in the ass.

The shutter noises are bothersome to some people (and distracting to
some pets). I find them useful, but they can be turned off if you
don't like them. However, I've figured out how to use the shutter
system to my advantage. You can half depress the shutter, like you
would on a film SLR, to focus, then wait for your shot to appear,
then press the shutter down the rest of the way. This will
approximate the instant shutter response of a regular film SLR, and
alleviate the issue of shutter lag that's common in most cheaper
digital cameras. It may not sound like a big deal, but:

http://cat-sidh.net/gallery/albums/u...1/100_2223.jpg

If I'd been a little more careful, I'd have gotten the trees in
focus. Alas, that was a very close strike and my hair was standing
a little on end, both metaphorically and literally. No, it's not
the best lightning photo in the world, but lightning is difficult to
photograph and I'm not any sort of expert at any sort of photography.

sounds good. I am looking for a smaller digital camera that is easier to
throw in my purse or my pocket. The one I have now is 4 years old but still
working really nice. Here it is........

http://www.steves-digicams.com/2002_...umix_lc40.html

It is too big for a purse or pocket though and I picked it for the lens,
which is great. I still plan to keep it for taking pictures at home, like
everyday stuff and holidays but would love to have a travel friendly one
too.

The model I have is too big for most pockets, and the lens cap would be
a pain in the ass. They seem to have fixed that problem in newer
models, as well as making them smaller. Some of the new designs are
actually quite tiny, so one of them might work for your needs. And,
look, they actually have a "Pocket Series." Who knew?

http://www.kodak.com/eknec/PageQuerier.jhtml?pq-path=9/19/31&pq-locale=en_US

If I had to replace mine right now, I'd still go for one of the newer
EasyShare cameras. The two things I'd make sure to change would be the
lens cap and a higher optical zoom. Other than that, I think it's a
great intermediate digital camera. (Ultimately, I've got my eye on a
digital SLR, but that's way out of my price range right now.)

Some folks have complained about the way the shutter works on the model
I have. I don't know if they've changed it on newer models, but I hope
not. Once you learn how to use it, you can use the focusing/metering
song-and-dance to your advantage, and you can get photos you would not
be able to get with comparable digital cameras.

That's a *very* cute camera, with a nice lens. I expect it *does* take
quite nice photos.

I think your best bet would be to go to a camera shop, tell them what
you already have and what you are looking for. They'll have a good
selection of cameras in stock and you can feel them in your hands, look
at the features, and discuss the pros and cons of each with the camera
folks. I think actually getting your hands on the camera before buying
it is going to be pretty important in ensuring you get the *right*
camera.
