Default ARTHRITIS HELP

I have a 13 year old cocker spaniel who is apparantly developing
arthritis. He is in pain, and when he walks you can hear "snapping" and
"cracking". When he sits down I can also feel this cracking when I have
my hand on his backside.

The vet prescribed him Rimadyl and I have had him on that for a few
days and he seems to be doing much better in terms of not being in
pain, but I can still hear and feel the crackling.

Is there anything I can give him that will coat his joints to alleviate
the crackling joints? Please let me know what I can give him or feed
him to help. He wieghs 33 lbs.

Default ARTHRITIS HELP

The best thing is to keep with the Rimadyl and get follow up blood work in
about 10 days to check his liver and kidney functions. I am hoping that
your vet checked these BEFORE she prescribed Rimadyl if not it should have
been done. They should have also told you what signs to look out for incase
of an adverse reaction.

With any arthritis medication for dogs regardless of if it's Rimadyl,
Deramaxx or Metcam you HAVE to have these labs done regularly so you can be
sure the medication is not causing problems with their liver or kidneys.
