Default Whip-Pit?

Sadie is supposed to be a Whippet x APBT. She's 2 years old,
weighs about 25 pounds, and came to her owners through a Pit
Bull rescue which provided the breeds ID. Does this seem like a
reasonable guess?

A very sweet and submissive girl.

I looked for, but couldn't find, John Richardson's pictures of
his whippit that I'm sure he posted a few years ago.

Not impossible, but I would expect to see more Whippet traits if one parent
was a purebred Whippet. But then the very only Whippet cross I've ever seen
had probably some kind of spitz as the other parent, and the Whippet traits
were easier to see than if the other parent is a Pit Bull with rather heavy
head.

German Pinscher looks like a potential parent, but I think that they are so
rare over there that it is nearly impossible. Whippet x Jack Russell as one
parent, and Pit/Staff as another?

You're correct - German Pincshers are rare here, though I do
know a couple. Pit Bulls are also relatively rare in my area,
though there are apparently enough to feed a rescue
organisation.

It looks like this one will stay an unknown. I know nothing
of Sadie's background before her owners got her from Pit Bull
rescue. She looks like many of the ubiquitous reserve dogs
who go through other rescue organisations - there are a lot of
herding breeds on the reserves (though I doubt they had any
influence in Sadie), lots of GSD mixes, and a fair number of
Elkhound and St Bernard mixes. Probably JRTs, too.

Thanks!
