Default Smoke detectors

After having one too many episodes of a smoke detector chirping and freaking
out all of my three dogs for several hours afterward, I am investigating
some alternatives.

Does anyone know of any smoke detector that would solve this problem that
pet owners commonly use. I am looking into smoke detectors for the deaf
that have strobes and bed vibration.....

Any suggestions would be welcome.

Carol
