Default Dog - both eardrums ruptured (gone?). Prognosis?

I have a dog that was just examined with an otoscope under sedation,
and the vet informed me that both eardrums were ruptured. I looked at
the pictures taken during this process, and compared to pictures taken
just a week earlier the eardrums don't appear to even be there.

This possibly happened as the result of improper ear cleaning technique
used at the same animal hospital -- squirting the solution forcefully
into the ears, which I have subsequently learned is inadvisable, to put
it mildly.

So, what is the prognosis? Is there any hope of the ear drums growing
back?

The dog does not appear to be completely deaf, but it takes either a
moderately loud or a high-pitched sound to get a visible reaction.

.........I hope this hospital assumes reponsibility. And find out who did
that and never let them touch your dog again if in fact they actually caused
the eardrums to rupture.

.......I couldn't copy anything from this site but it says that eardrums can
repair themselves.

..........ear infections can also rupture eardrums. Did your dog have an
infection or were they just trying to clean it of debris?

Now that the eardrums are ruptured, there are certain meds that shouldn't be
used or they'll cause deafness.

....... I wonder if a culture shouldn't be made of the ear stuff in the
middle ear. After the eardrum grows back, that infection (yeast or
bacteria) can be trapped leading to a middle ear infection. Personally I
think they should take every precaution to make sure this doesn't
happen........and it shouldn't cost you a cent.
