........Honestly, I don't know of any dog that only gets it's nails
trimmed twice a year. Your dogs nails must grow very slowly.

Or his dog chews its nails.

Then you either have a dog with dragon claws, or your dog has some
bizarre nail problem. I have never met a dog whose nails could be
trimmed only 2 times a year and still be of a good length. And I've
never known of a dog who could wear nails off enough on pavement to make
a difference either. I would think it would take a huge amount of
exercise on pavement, which is doing a lot of damage to bones and joints
just for keeping nails short.

My dogs never have their nails trimmed. In fact, I don't even own nail
trimmers. Our walks are about 70% in grass and under trees and 30% on
sidewalks. Our total walking time averages 2 hours every day.

Because of the daily hands-on time I spend with them, I'd know
immediately, if either one had a nail problem.

It sounds like we are just fortunate.

Me, I think you know nothing about trimming dog nails. Occasionally dogs
will be quicked. Obviously it should be rare, but it does happen. I find
dremels work better at preventing quicking than regular clippers. I trim
my own dogs' nails every couple of weeks or so. Viva could go slightly
longer, Cala should really be done twice weekly but I get lazy, and
Zipper should be done at least once a week. Otherwise they click on the
floors.

You are correct; I know nothing about trimming dog's nails. Besides that, I
don't want to do it. That is why I have either a vet assistant or a dog
groomer do it for me. Some people have no problem trimming their dog's
nails; they don't mind doing it and it is easy for them to do and apparently
it has to be done often on their dogs.
My dog is presently in perfect health. I take her to the vet for regular
visits (about 3 times a year) and she just had her yearly physical. My dog
hardly ever needs her nails trimmed and her nails and feet are fine. I
never hear any clicking on the floors.
Some people here have stated that some dog's nails grow very fast; maybe so;
I can't deny that happens, but I just never had one that did that. The
chow I had was groomed every two months, so the groomer trimmed his nails,
at that time, when needed, but my rotties only get groomed twice a year.
That is what is recommended for Rotties and the vet checks her all over the
rest of the year. She would also trim my dog's nails if it had to be done.
I guess each dog is different when it comes to how fast their nails grow or
if they are able to wear them down fast enough.

What kind of dogs do you own? Do you walk your dogs each day? Just curious
why they need to be trimmed so often; that seems very odd to me. With the
care and attention I give my dog, don't you think I would instantly take her
to the groomer to get her nails trimmed if she needed it.

Back to square one, I see. I've come to the conclusion that you are
being willfully ignorant. Good luck with that!

How on earth could anyone here know what sort of "care and
attention" you give your dog? They can't. There would be a lesson
in there, if you weren't too obtuse to recognize it.
