Default Coughing Dog

I've got 60 lb, 11-year old Chow mix with a dry cough - we're on day 2
(seems better tonight). I'm thinking if the symptoms are gone in
couple of more days there's nothing to worry about. Comments (please)?

A senior dog with a cough, especially if he hasn't been around other dogs
with symptoms, should be looked at by the vet. See how he is in the morning.

....thought I already replied to this, but checking back I guess not.
Thank you for the help, and Cleo was much better the next day. A
couple of days later she was completely back to her old self. The day
I posted my question I brought her in the house to sleep that night so
I could keep an eye (and an ear) on her. I gave her a little cough
syrup to doze off, and then some cool, green tea in the morning, both
as more of comforting agents then anything else...
