Default latest information on spay incontinence

my Heinz 57 breed was neutered at a very young age by the Humane
Society. She just had her first birthday. In the past few weeks, she
has been urinating while laying down (on my bed of course!). She is
aware of this, because she frantically cleans herself after she moves
to another spot. Urine culture was negative for any growth, only a
slightly elevated protein (along with a low grade fever). I want to
rule out any other possibilities (stones?), but if the diagnosis is
incontinence, I have questions.

I did a search on this group but would like to know what is the latest
preferred treatment for incontinence. I want to consider the long term
effects of whatever drug route we go with, since she is so young.
Please let me know your experience with specific treatments, their
effectiveness and their side effects. Cost of meds is also a
consideration, but I will not make my choice based on cost. If you can
recommend suppliers with good prices, that would be helpful.

Thank you!

We gave one of our dogs DES once a week and it worked perfectly. I
don't know that it had any side effects and it was inexpensive.

I pay $23 for a 2 month supply (1/2 tab, 2x/day) of Proin, for Rudy's
incontinence. A small price to pay IMO.

We tried weaning him to once a day, but at day 10.he leaked again. Oh
well.

My great dane had the same problem. She has done great with a homopathic medicine called leaks no more. It is available at Jeffers Pet supply online for 8.95 per bottle. You dose by weight but it is very hard to overdose on naturals. My dane gets 15 drops am and pm. Hope this will help you.
