We have a 9 month old yellow lab and we recently noticed that she is
developing spots on her belly. They are brownish in nature and
irregular in size. We have also noticed that some of her fleshy areas
are darker than the usual pink. The fur near her pads is almost a
marroon color. We thought maybe she was just dirty so we took her to
the groomer and when she came back, nothing had changed. Her genital
area and anus have also gotten darker in color. I also seem to think
her tongue is darker than usual. Has anyone experienced anything like
this, or does anyone know what we should do?

My sister's yellow lab had the same thing. His stomach/flanks looked
brownish and dirty all of the time. Didn't bother him at all. Now -
the fur is another story, but may all be connected. That generally
comes from her chewing on them/saliva. Have they been thoroughly
washed (groomer may not specifically scrub the toes!)? My sis went to
a veterinary dermatologist with her dog, and he went on a special diet
for a bit and filtered water, but it never seemed to make a
difference. It didn't bother him and he lived to 15.5, so.......
