whittled the following words: Is there any illness factor that can affect the colour of dog poo ?[fresh ] My Springer Spaniel is doing white crumbly poo with no change in diet, water availabe at all times It sounds as if your dog is picking up bones somewhere. Check with your neighbor and see if they are perhaps throwing bones over the fence. |

Assuming the dog is fed a commercial diet, it's also possible that the formula has been changed. I believe manufacturers have up to six months to update packaging to reflect a change in ingredients. -- Shelly (Warning: see label for details) http://www.cat-sidh.net (the Mother Ship) http://esther.cat-sidh.net (Letters to Esther) |

I would think that much added calcium in the kibble would make it pretty obvious there had been a formula change. More than likely, the dog is picking up a bone source somewhere. |

As long as you are sure, I guess there is no reason for the OP to consider any other possibilities. -- Shelly (Warning: see label for details) http://www.cat-sidh.net (the Mother Ship) http://esther.cat-sidh.net (Letters to Esther) |

When my BCs were pups they had some pretty weird looking poop after ripping to shreds and consuming a brand new double-sized roll of toilet paper. Kathleen |

I'm not sure, but asking the OP to consider stupid possibilities seems a bit senseless Another stupid possibility: lightening of feces could indicate that something is wrong with the liver or pancreas. In the absence of a change in diet, I think consulting the vet would be a very good idea. -- Shelly (Warning: see label for details) http://www.cat-sidh.net (the Mother Ship) http://esther.cat-sidh.net (Letters to Esther) |

I agree with that. as well as the potential of toilet paper from a previous poster. Your suggestion of health issues is NOT a stupid possibility. I suspect you would not think my previous suggestion was stupid if you'd ever had an animal that was seriously sensitive to a common food ingredient, who for years did fine on a food without that ingredient, then suddenly was not doing well, only to find out that the ingredient you were avoiding had been added to the food but the packaging had not yet been updated to reflect the change. Considering that the OP doesn't say what sort of diet the dog is on, I don't think it's stupid to investigate a change in feed formulation. -- Shelly (Warning: see label for details) http://www.cat-sidh.net (the Mother Ship) http://esther.cat-sidh.net (Letters to Esther) |

I'm with ditty on this one, your Springer has found some bones. Check your yard for recent excavations or any remnants of the phantom bone. -- My email may be inverted... But I still get all the "great email" that Gmail does not toss OR drop. |

Thanks everyone , especially those of you that mentioned BONES, I now have a
confession from the other half that she gave the dog raw chicken bones. Great peace of mind for me,the dog is none the worse.the other half is quiet. Again Thanks |
