OK, I found a pretty complete description in some old emails.
There were two dogs involved, a Lab and a Golden, living
several hundred miles apart. Vets were stumped. One labeled
the condition "sterile panniculitis."

I heard from my friend, the Lab's owner. She filled me in on some
details I'd missed before. The most startling is that the Golden,
her brother's dog, turned out to have cancer and was ultimately
put down. So, she says, don't stop having your vet oversee your
dog's condition.

That is, of course, good advice whether you switch the food or not.
I'm trying to be helpful, reaching a bit to share information on a
frustrating and unusual condition--but I am not a vet, and I have not
seen either your dog or hers when she was affected.

Another detail is that Vitamin E supplementation was part of the
therapy.

I also left out that the Lab was taken to NC State College of Veterinary

Medicine for workups and multiple biopsies and cultures, including
a three-month culture. No diagnosis was ever reached.

"See a specialist" is worthwhile advice, if you can afford
it. Again, we can't assume that your dog's problem is the same as
my friend's Lab's. On the other hand, switching food and giving a
Vitamin E supplement is an easy, inexpensive thing to try.

Dear Amy,

Thanks a lot for all the info,
I Will follow your suggestions, in the mean time my girl still under vet
surveillance.

Apparently there is a Dermatologist very reputable in town so am looking to
make an appointment with her, hopefully she will be able to do something.

Thanks

I would look for an expert at a nearby veterinary
school.

Hi all,

I just find out of this forums,

I have a serious problem with my dog; she is a 6 Y.O. Mix Cocker and Puddle.

A year a go she got the shot for rabies, at that time she develop a bump
(bubble) under the skin that re-absorb with the time, This year she receive
the shot at the same pet super market and the same place on her, like the
last time, this time the bump stay much longer, after 3 months bump stays
there, doggy didn't looks strange at all, just for occasional pain when we
touch her,

So I thought was a simple inflammation, I use some ice and I rub the bump,
for my surprise the bump brake and start to drain, it was not pus, was some
clear semi-transparent liquid with not smell at all, I thought that was all,
I was wrong.

After this many more bumps start to come up all around the lower half, and
each one of them brake and drip, leaving a horrible hole on her skin without
close, I took her to the first vet and he didn't knew what was wrong so he
start with some antibiotic and order study's including blood and diabetes
checking, apparently nothing was wrong with the exception of some bacteria
but as the doctor said this bacteria is pretty common on the soil so this
shouldn't be a surprise since she enjoy to be on the grass for long periods
of time.

After two months without any result I took her to a second vet, same thing,
he didn't know what is wrong and more study were in order, once again
nothing wrong with the dog with the exception of the same bacteria from the
soil, so he starts with more antibiotic.

After this two more bumps show up, one on each rear leg, and have a big and
hard bump on her lower stomach, just close to the vagina.

So far the bumps are not coming any more but the ones open don't show any
sign to be closing, I am really frustrated because vets seems to be happy
getting money but no one is helping my girl.

She used to be a very happy girl always running around me, now she just
stays in a corner and don't want to move, when I come back home she just
barely move her tail.

I feel so frustrated, I know she is in big pain, some times I think its time
to put her sleep and freed her of this pain, but I don't have the guts to
take her life even with all that pain and suffer.

Anyone ever heard something about this?

Do you know or recommend any GOOD vet that knows about skin decease?

Thank you all.
