Hip soreness

I have a lab pointer mix male. Bosco is only 2 but since we have

If a dog isn't in the proper shape for a whole day of hiking and
swimming, it's not unusual for him to be sore for a day or two
afterwards.
As with any physical exercise, it's wise to start off slow and then
gradually increase time and resistence.
The problem only seems to exist in his back legs and he seems
to be fine after he gets going.
Does his rear end "wobble"? Does he "bunny hop"? "Stretch" one of his
rear legs out? Does he yelp and/or whine?
How exactly does he express the pain?

Does anyone know of something that could be causing this pain, or is
it just soreness from all the fun?
Probably. But without knowing more, examining him, etc., it's really
impossible to know.
Yes, it could be CHD, etc. But it's more likely to be soreness.
Is there anything we can do to help the pain?
Get your dog in shape. GRADUALLY!
That means a little hiking and swimming, on a daily basis if possible,
until he's ready for a whole day of it.
If after a week or so of daily exercise (hiking and swimming, if
possible), he's still expressing some pain or unsteadiness, it's
probably time to see your vet.
