Thanks in advance! One word - Horrid. You own 2 Goldens, who apparently live outdoors, and bred them for the first time before either was 2, and they have had a second litter close on the heels of that one (next season?). A search of OFA records shows none, which doesn't surprise me. AKC search yields no titles of any type. "Pay their way" by having puppies? ICK. I do Golden Retriever Rescue in your area. Why am I sure that I will see some of these pups come through? -- Janet Boss www.bestfriendsdogobedience.com |

Your site has so many problems it is hard to know where to begin. Helath testing information? Evidence of breedworthiness such as titles in conformation, hunting, obedience, agility? (Hint: loving to play fetch makes a dog a nice pet, not make a dog that should be bred.) Where is you buyer contract and spay/neuter policy information? (YOUR dogs should have been purchased with one.)You are breeding dogs with no apparent health testing or evidence of breedworthiness, simply because you own them and they have intact reproductive systems. Perhaps two dogs doesn't make a mill, but it does make you an unethical backyard breeder who should cease and desist immediately. Try reading the information about ethical breeding of Golden Retrievers at the GRCA website for starters. |

They don't appear to have been evaluated by any independent source as to their worthiness in terms of conformation or retrieving ability, yet you claim that the pups could be field/show prospects. How in the world do you know? Fetching a stick != hunting ability. Every responsible breeder breeds for the sole purpose of bettering the breed. Is there a goal to your breeding program, other than lining your pockets? The 5 generation pedigrees are a joke. Pet dogs, bred to pet dogs, bred to more pet dogs. My mutt probably has just as many champions in his pedigree as yours appear to have. Do you know what the common health problems are that affect the breed? What are you doing to show that you are actively involved in preventing it? Where is the health testing information? Did you know that dogs should not be bred before they are 2 years old? Yet, your dogs have had 2 litters, and they're barely adults themselves. Do everyone a favor and spay/neuter the dogs and enjoy them as companions. There are well over 2000 Golden Retrievers in rescue at the moment, and rescues are overwhelmed by the dogs produced by people who treat their dogs like they are cash cows. Stop contributing to the problem. Suja |

... One word - Horrid. You own 2 Goldens, who apparently live outdoors, Now, Janet, to be fair they never specifically said their dogs live outdoors. What they said was that they built their dogs a large dog house where they could be cool in the summer and warm in the winter. It is a cosy (sic) haven and the dogs also have a shaded deck. This pretty accurately describes the house we built for our dogs. I suppose at 1200 sqft "large" might not reflect everyone's opinion. But it does have a heat pump that provides for both summer cooling and winter warming. (It was 9 degrees and windy here this morning and both of my dogs were quite comfortable in their beds, snuggled down under the covers. Clearly a cozy haven. Our deck isn't shaded however. If we were to continue living in this house, that is one of the next things to consider. Judy |

ups.com... We have a hobby of raising Golden Retrievers and our site is http://goldpups.googlepages.com. Please check it out. I would be happy for someone to critique my site! Thanks in advance! I think the page that sums it all up for me the one where you discuss purchase information. Puppies must be paid for in cash or cash equivalents only. You are selling puppies to people that you wouldn't trust to write you a check. But you will turn over a puppy to them. Pet quality dogs being bred by people who have no idea what they are doing. The quality of your website is the least of the problems here. Judy |

rec.pets.dogs.breeds: One word - Horrid. Gad. And the content-based ads google chooses are even worse. Next day pets dot com? Puppies listings dot com? A great reason to not put any "free" dog sites of any description on googlepages.com -- --Matt. Rocky's a Dog. |

I suppose at 1200 sqft "large" might not reflect everyone's opinion. My dogs have 2600+ sf - so there. No stinkin' heat pump either - FHA and central air and TWO fireplaces to get cosy in front of. And 2 sofas that are JUST theirs, 3 more they're allowed to share with humans, 5 dog beds, 2 Q beds they are allowed on, so I think cozy would do it! 9 degrees and windy here this morning 9 degrees with windchill here this morning and the dogs were loving it. Nut cases. My hands and ears just about frozed off! Our deck isn't shaded however. If we were to continue living in this house, that is one of the next things to consider. Ours is shaded by an enormous (~70') maple tree. Not that the dogs spend much time under it - they prefer their pool or the ac! -- Janet Boss www.bestfriendsdogobedience.com |

I would be happy for someone to critique my site! Thanks in advance! My critiques are not of your site, but of your breeding practices. Sorry if that's not what you had in mind. You have two pet dogs, that are obviously far from show or working stock. The bitch has one champion in the sixth generation, and that's it; your male has a handful in the fifth and sixth generations. That's what you call "champion lines?" (A BYB term that has zero meaning, by the way.) Your dogs are so far removed from well bred stock that it's laughable if it wasn't so sad. When an educated person looks at a pedigree and sees dog after dog with no titles, no health tests and names like "Fluffy Buffy" it is immediately obvious that these are generations of poorly bred dogs. Since Golden Retrievers are not exactly rare, and the rescue groups are overrun with similarly bred dogs, just why are you producing litter after litter? Certainly not for the "potential to succeed in the show, in the conformation ring, or as hunters on the field" since neither of your dogs, nor their ancestors for many generations, have ever been proven in those arenas. Since anyone seeking a pet would be wise to find a responsible breeder who has proven their dogs, plus done health testing, since every litter bred for show or working has pets in it, I just don't see a need for your litters of ill-bred, untested and just plain random puppies. Except to make you money. And that isn't a very good reason, is it? Christy |
