my dog seraphina, [sair-a-feen-a], and she's a dalmatian
mixed with a golden lab, i'll put it straight, she's hairy and white
and has got black spots like a dalmations.
anyway i'm going 2 get 2 the point, every 4th of july,
she hears the fireworks go off, then she shakes terribly,
almost like a earth quake is striking and no one can feel it but her.
is this normal? why does this happen? how can i fix it?

seraphina's eyes are red around the pupal, and i sware
she is not a hound! i just don't know why her eyes are
red. we allways thought it was allergies, a disiese, or
a possibility she was born that way because ever since
we got her she was this way. she was 5 years old when we got her, and
we've had her for 5 years. i'm really worried about her. and we can
never catch up with the only good vet wee have around hear. is this
also normal?
why are her eyes red? how can i fix it?

P.S.please answer these questions if you know the answer!just e-mail

Some dogs are terrified from fireworks, that's why she is shaking. You
said that you had the dog since she was five years old. I wonder if she
was neglected by prior owner. Since you know that she is scarred on
July 4th, then I would find a way to keep her comfortable. You can take
her outside around 6-7 PM before the fireworks and then maybe turn on
the TV or a radio in a room you are keeping your dog. I am not sure
what to say about the red eyes. Perhaps your dog has allergies and you
should ask your vet about it. He may give you some eye drops. Also, you
can use the Chamomile Tea (not hot) and cotton balls to wipe the dogs
eyes with it. It helps heal. Our pekingnese use have red eyes and we
weshed his eyes w/it. However, because it helped our dog it does not
mean that it will help yours. Tea is herbal and will not harm your dog
in any way.
