My friend with the seizuring poodle was so thankful for your helpful
responses, she's asked me for your opinions on her other dogs health issue.

"Will you please e-mail your dog e-mail lists and ask if anyone has had
experience with FHO or THR in a GSD? I want to know about 1. the recovery
process, including post-op care and complications with each procedure, etc
and 2. how do they describe the final condition of their dog i.e. activity
level, pain level, etc. "

"Let them know that she is a 4-year old, 56 pounds, otherwise healthy GSD
with parents that are very committed to recovery. She has hip dysplasia and
arthritis in both hips."

Let me say that money is really no object in this case, she wants to do
whatever is best for the dog. Her vet has suggested that FHO is a better
option due to failure rate of THR but she is concerned about long term
issues with a dog with FHO in both hips.
