Today at the obedience trial I had Shy pee, and then because I was
getting ready to leave for the 90 minute drive home and knew it was in
her poopy window, I asked her about poop. "Shy, do you want to poopy
here or at home?" This BTW is not her normal poop cue, she's not
reliable on cue for that like she is for pee, but she promptly
squatted and pooped anyway. These dogs are so smart!

This made me laugh out loud. Fortunately, my dog never has pooping
accidents in the house. If she doesn't poop on her morning walk, she
just doesn't poop the whole day until I walk her in the evening. When I
left her with a petsitter for a couple weekends last month, I could tell
walking her didn't go very well from the amount of poop I found in the
outdoor kennel. But, hey, at least she reliably used the doggy door for
that purpose, and not the carpet. I know a lot of people say they've
trained their dogs the two different cues - "go pee" and "go poo". I've
considered doing the same, but haven't really found it necessary yet.
