Or is it arthritis? so she has a hard time walking about (especially up & down stairs). so how can i help out my dog? .........There are any number of products you can use for arthritis, such as glucosamine, salmon oil, MSM. There are links and information at this site: www.dogaware.com .........If none of these seem to help much, your vet can prescribe medicines, but FIRST you should have some bloodwork run to check how the liver and kidneys are functioning as sometimes these drugs have side effects. ......You can also make sure the dog has a place to sleep with some padding. buglady take out the dog before replying |

It would be easy enough to make one with a long piece of plywood and a rubber bath mat nailed to it, so the dog won't slip off it. Then toss it in the trunk of the car for later use. When walking down or up the stairs, you could slip a towel or belt around the back of the stomach of the dog to gently support the dog's weak rear end while holding the towel or belt as the dog walks up or down the stairs. You could buy one of those doggy stairs if the dog sleeps on a chair or couch. I would definitely avoid any large stairways. Maybe the vet could prescribe a pain killer if the dog is in discomfort. |
