On 19 Jan 2007 10:49:56 -0800, Phil , clicked their
heels and said: Have a family of four with two kids under the age of ten. What's a good age range to consider getting a dog, even for a breed that is good around kids? How far under 10? How boisterous? How dog experienced? How much time will they be with the dog? What are your expectations of child-dog interactions? What are YOUR goals for the dog? I think children should be over 3. The right dog is the right dog when it is one that suits your individual family. Tested adult rescue and shelter dogs are often a very good choice. A puppy may be a good choice, depending on age of children, how much someone is home to train, etc. -- Janet Boss www.bestfriendsdogobedience.com |
