Default Former show dog now freaks out in crate.

I apologize for those who think we should keep him out of the crate
unless we're actually leaving,

I am one of those who agree that they dog is in the crate too much.

where does he eat now? can you feed him near (but not in) the crate. then
after a few days, feed him in the crate but have the crate door opened. if
he leaves the crate without eating, the food comes up and he doesn't eat.
try again at the next meal. eventually he could eat in the crate with the
door closed. maybe that will help?

Wow, thanks for the constructive advice. Yes, the crate is a jail, a
prison, it's a horrible thing for any animal to be in. Nobody should
ever use a crate. It's torture!

I'm sure this guy's gone by now, but I'm only now just getting around to
reading this thread and hooo boy do I have a few comments.

No. Crates aren't torture.

How YOU happen to bne using the crate, quite simply *is*.

Did you watch the video? And who the F*** do you think you are to

call
us morons? Do you know me? Do you know the situation? Freaking
Usenet trolls never do go away, do they?

You got quite a few suggestions, and yet you just came up with a host of
reasons why they don't ap-ply to *you*. You got suggestions from both
trainers as well as people who happen to specialize in sighthound
rescue...and yet, you chose to ignore it. To some people, that counts as
trolling too.

We can't leave the room for 2 minutes before he TOTALLY FREAKS OUT.
Can you get that through your thick head?

So, lockking him in the crate for 10 hours (with a few minutes for potty
breaks) while causing the freak out is a good way to handle this?

I agree with Sally in that I wonder about your degree.

The dog needs help so my wife can actually leave the house for more
than 2 MINUTES. Right now she can't go anywhere!!!!! He freaks out
and poops all over his crate. She's trying to train him to be able to
stay in there so when she leaves he doesn't freak out. Your comments
do nothing to help at all.

Doesn't matter. You ignored the helpful comments too.

Rehome the dog.

This has nothing to do with him needing to relieve himself. If you
actually read (and I'm assuming you can read some of the bigger words

-
people who attack the way you did often times have trouble with the

big
words) what I wrote and watched the video you'd understand that he is
losing control of his bodily functions.

For everyone else, thank you for the constructive advice.

For you jerk-wad, get out of your mom's basement for a while and
socialize with actual human beings.

Yeah. Nice.

Rehome the dog. And please stop using the crate as a tool for abuse.
You're not helping.

Tara
