Default Is your dog group's spam problems a sign of something much more serious?

I love blogs! Sometimes you find the people who are at the
very top of the fields or who are particularly brilliant
jotting down whatever's on their mind at the moment.
Sometimes you find people taking a disciplined, systematic
approach to addressing problems in areas that interest them.
Sometimes there are people who lead really interesting lives
writing about that, or people whose lives might seem kind of
conventional but who write beautifully about it. Blogs can
be a really great way for families to keep in touch with
each other's day-to-day lives. There are a couple of
fabulous dog mushing blogs.

What I do not love, however, is blogs with posts saying
things like "I sealed my basement today" without saying
more, and what I especially do not love is people following
this sequence of events:

1) search the internet for "make money fast"
2) find a collection of cheesy, crappy documents on
eBay along with marketing instructions. If you've
ever looked at the classifieds in Mother Earth News or
the Farmer's Almanac you're familiar with the kind of
thing they're selling
3) open a PayPal account
4) get an account with blogspot.com
5) post some made-up story about dog training or
grandma's kitchen or your daughter's psoriasis
or whatever to Usenet pointing people at your blog,
where you're selling the crappy documents you bought
on eBay.

Hey! I just told you how you can Get! Rich!! Quick!!! on
the intertubes.
