Default German Shepherd x Chow?

Dog has a mostly black tongue - does that mean it is a chow mix?

Shar Peis and Eurasiers have also dark tongues, and nearly all other breeds
can have at least sometimes partially pigmented tongues.

The vet said that the coat came from German Shepherd. What do you think?

Totally lop ears. No, that's not a cross between erect-eared breeds like
Chow and GSD, although coat type, color (masked sable) and tail carriage
would be possible. If one parent is a purebred Chow, the other has to have
lop ears. As that dog looks a lot like a cattle guarding dog to me, the
other parent could be for example a Great Pyr (but only if the Chow parent
is short-coated). But more likely the other parent is something like GSD x
retriever or GSD x hound. Hmm, even a Boxer parent might be possible!
