Default YoYo-Poo question...

One of my loving family members bought me a lovely little dog called a
yo-yo poo. This is 3/4 Yorkie and 1/4 Toy Poodle.

The question I have is: Will the hair on the body of the dog grow to
be long?

Currently the face, beard, and tie back is about 1.5" long, but the
body of the dog is only about .25" long, with small patches of longer
hair. The dog is only 4 months old.

Thanks in advance for any input.

Good question.

What you have is a mutt. It can have the coat of a yorkie or it can have
the coat of a poodle or it can have something inbetween. That's one of the
point of a purebred breed of dog - that you know what the coat will be every
time.

My best guess is that if the hair is poodle curly, that it will be less long
than if it has the silky, straight texture of a yorkie. I suppose it's
possible that it will have yorkie-type hair on the face and poodle-type hair
on the body. Or not.

BUT - I am sure that the dog is absolutely adorable and will be a wonderful
companion.

And I certainly hope that your loving family member didn't pay a cent for
it.

Thanks for your response... The hair on my dog has a strait, smooth
texture, and has no curl whatsoever. The person that they got the dog
from said that the reason they breed them 3/4 yorkie is so that they
look mostly like a yorkie. I know that it is impossible to predict
what it will turn out like... I love it just the same.

And NO, I don't think they paid a dime for the pup.

Thanks!

That makes me more than a little confused as to why they don't just breed
them to a yorkie and get something that looks a whole lot like a yorkie.

Lucky dog. And lucky you.

Good. Because I hate to hear that people breeding mutts (even if they then
give them cute names) are making any money from it.

I'm sure it's a really, really cute little dog.
