Is it harder to train 2 pups simultaneously?
(Melinda Shore) said in rec.pets.dogs.behavior:
The woman in Anchorage whose housedogs dominate 6-dog
limited classes in Alaska has all females. Nearly all of
them are spayed, but she likes to leave her stars intact in
case she decides to breed one. She'd just as soon avoid the
management problems associated with having intact males and
females together (not to mention the inevitability of an
oops), and so it's all girls.
That sounds like a friend who runs a boarding kennel and manages
a herding dog rescue. She has 17 personal dogs, all but one is
female, and two are unspayed (one because of previous bad
reactions to general anesthetic, and the other, I don't know
why). FWIW, she works all but her 2 aged dogs in various
combinations of herding and agility.
