Default Adopting at Christmas

Not a lot of details on the web page, but finally someone
is realising that Christmas holiday schedules often make a
good time to adopt.

good deal. i know for a lot of people, there's a good bit
of down time over the holidays that would make it much
easier to deal with helping a new dog adjust to a new home.

That was the intent.

for me it's the opposite- i only get the actual holidays
off, it's usually very busy at work, plus i'm busy with
holiday stuff.

The adoption process would have weeded you out, then, at least
for right now.

i don't agree with pets being given as (surprise) gifts,
nor do i agree with spur of the moment pet adopting, but
that's a year-round concern.

Yup, and this shelter still requires that the entire household
visit. The only thing it's doing differently from regular
adoption procedures is staying open at Christmas and
emphasizing (and rejecting for) the pet as a present thing.

I think that it's a great approach, and it's certainly gotten
a lot of local media coverage.
