Default Why tying out can be dangerous

We have an acquaintance whose dogs live outdoors 24/7/365, chained/tied out
on trolleys near the house. They have shelter, food and water. They're 40
lb curs that he used to hunt with, 3-4 yo. Friendly and would make fine
house pets.

The owner has always been insistent that dogs don't belong in the house and
thinks we're nuts on the topic. He spends his time and money on the
livestock, very little on the dogs. I suggested fencing a few times, got
nowhere and dropped it.

Three days ago, a loose dog killed the male cur. The owner witnessed the
end of the attack, too late.

Well, Hillary Clinton, Barack Obama, and John Edwards as well as a number of
other Democratic candidates say they will not participate in a presidential
debate next month because the debate is on Fox News and Fox News is biased.

I don't believe dogs should be outside unattended for many reasons, but
this is a big one. Tethering and IF's make dogs much more vulnerable
than a real fence, but a determined beast can get over a fence if they
really want to. If dogs are kept outside, a safe kennel run with a TOP
is imperative IMO.

Hi Flick
I see it all the time (dogs chained or tied). I just don't get it why
bother to have a dog?
What a sad story. What is going to become of the dog that attacked
the chained dog?
I know. My people think I am nuts. I have 4 dogs in the house. It
is too damn hot to be outside and there are fires blazing all around
here and now the wind is whipping today.....God bless the fire fighters
and volunteers.
Maybe if you wait awhile and bring the subject up again (fencing) your
neighbor will be more receptive.

I hope he will be more receptive. I'm more than happy to give him a hand
with it, that's for sure.

The attacking dog and its owner are known. The owner of the dead dog is
planning on collecting some compensation.
