Default You know your dog had a good weekend when...

I always think I should be doing more with my dogs to keep them
entertained or exercised. But it is just like every other situation
in my life. I strive to do things with 110% of my time and energy and
it just can't always happen that way. I usually feel that no matter
what I am doing, it's never the best it can be but I think its human
nature to feel like you could always do things better (or at least my
"normal"). For example, if I take the dogs to the park for a hour, I
think "we could have stayed longer". If I take them outside for an
hour I think "we should have went down to the stream, that would have
been better". If I take them down to the stream, I think "I should do
this everyday, that would be better". And right now, I think I should
be playing with them instead of writing this post (though in my own
defense to myself, they are resting because we were outside and down
at the stream earlier).

While all dogs need and enjoy exercise, I think one of the joys of having
a toy dog is that they get a fair amount of exercise just trotting around
after you everywhere.

definately, their size is a huge advantage when it comes time to tire them
out. And I do take advantage of it when I need to. This winter, during
another annoying snowstorm, I invented a variation to hide and seek called
"doggy suicides". Basically, I put them in a sit/wait and hide on the the
level of the house they weren't currently on so they'd have to go up and
down all the steps to find me. It's a game they both love and after only a
handful of turns, they are ready for water and a nap.

Max gets tired on our walks, while Zoe gets decent
exercise and Queenie almost none (because my pace isn't fast enough for
her).

you do have quite the variety there and I can't imagine how hard it is to
exercise dogs in the larger variety, especially when there's more than one.

I think you might be flogging yourself needlessly.

hopefully

You are devoted to
your dogs and they seem to have a lot of outings. In fact, living with
you sounds like toy poodle heaven!

thank you.

My little JRT doesn't seem to tire very quickly, for all that he's an 11
1/2" dog.

Was your Jack Russell a Siberian Husky? That's quite a trick in itself!

I tend to assume that when someone says "annoying snowstorm"
they really mean "the one that didn't arrive."

The mid-April snowstorm was actually pretty annoying. 12"
of wallpaper paste. Weighed a ton.

not quite, I am not a fan of snow. I like mildly cold weather and some
flurries are ok, but nothing else.

yes, that was a pain, though we didn't get quite that much

The thing I wonder about these sports is: don't people fall down a lot?

I mean, I would love to hitch Q up to something, but I'm afraid, very
afraid.
