It's certainly better entertainment than, say, shelling out $30 (including popcorn, soda pop, chocolate covered raisins) to watch Keanu Reeves go "Whoa, dude." And a lot funnier, too. I think this would make a *great* training video or whatever, along the lines of "what's wrong with this picture?" Most focus on what to do, but I don't think that people really have a great handle on what not to do and how screwing up the training screws up the dog. I'm really interested in the consequences of failure and in designing stuff that recovers nicely when things go wrong, and while you see that touched upon in passing in the training literature I don't think I've ever seen a systematic treatment of bad training. I could be wrong - post a pointer! The other day someone reminded me of a great quote that seems to apply to the Paul situation: "Hubris always wins in the end. The Greeks taught us that" -- Homer Simpson although it's incomplete, since it fails to account for his whole lookatmelookatmelookatme schtick. -- Melinda Shore - Software longa, hardware brevis - Prouder than ever to be a member of the reality-based community |

And who wouldn't want to watch that??? I know *I* would. If you offer helpful advice or support, it will be your fault when the predetermined outcome occurs. At least according to some. Nick |

Let me guess - you took that mushing outing, immediately got hooked, and sold everything you own to move to a cabin in northern NH where you're now living with 30 dogs and without indoor plumbing. But you finally got wireless broadband!! Am I right? -- Melinda Shore - Software longa, hardware brevis - Prouder than ever to be a member of the reality-based community |
