Default maltese with valve disease

Mr_Markham spoke these words of wisdom in
:

Hello all,
has anyone had a dog diagnosed with CHF/chronic valvular disease? My
own little five pounds of perfect has been diagnosed as of last week
and is now on four meds, including enalapril, aldactone, pimobendan,
and of course, the ever popular lasix. The heart specialist says she
may have a year to a year and a half. It's heart breaking and surreal
all at once.

I've never been in your heartbroken shoes. some breeds are not only more
susceptable.. but indeed.. very likely for your same dianosis. Cavalier
Spaniels come to mind, as a breed more likely to have said problems than
not.
I can't help you with this dog but please select your next dog from a
breeder whose sire and dam..for generations have certified clear of heart
problems
