Default We need some help with our dogs

For the dog that is afraid to walk, the only thing I know to do is to
get a favorite treat or toy (hot dog works good) and entice the dog to
get started and then walk enthusiastically and without hesitation so
that the dog understands that you're in control. You may have to
provide a slight pull at first but it's more about attitude than
anything.

This is good advice but I would also suggest that adding sound
enticements also helps. Stinky treats or food in a bag that you can
shake can be helpful and a little cleaner than walking around with a
hot dog in your hand. If a hot dog worked, I'd get over the ick factor.

But you're right about attitude...

As for the first dog the OP mentioned, it is not an easy thing to
boundary train a dog so it will not leave your property.

First, you have to teach a solid recall and also get the dog more
interested in you than in anything else. You've received some good
advice so far.

Do you have any friends with any training knowledge?
