Default poodle problem

My 9 year old standard poodle has lymphoma and he has been given chemo
for this and it has been very successful.
He pretty much came back from the dead. All the very swollen gland
shrank to nothing. And he was totally his old self for about two
months. He was continung with the chemo in this time.
He then started to lose condition on his hindquarters, started to lose
strength and now can't stand on his back legs without considerable
pain, which is worse when he uses his bowels.
The vet is at a loss. xrays look fine, bowel looked fine. If we cant
get him sorted in the rear end we will have to put him down rather
that see him in pain whenever we have to get him up to use his
bowels.

Are we missing something terribly obvious. We love him and want whats
best

Can anyone offer any suggestions ?

Thanks

1) How do you know it's pain, and 2) have you eliminated
neurological problems?

Spleenic cancer? My old boy ultimately died of that in spite of many
diagnostics, this was missed until the necropsy. He went weak in the
rear as well. He also was filled with puss in his abdominal area due to
cancer

Good luck
