Ever heard of an Entlebucher Mountain Dog. I guess not. They are
related to the Bernese Mountain Dogs, but smaller and short-haired.
They are Swiss dogs that were used as farmdogs. They prefer to be with
you the entire day and love to work. They grow up to 16 to 20 inches
and 45 to 65 pounds.

Entlebucher are good watch dogs and can be used as herd dog. They're
intelligent family-dogs.

I looked into it. I don't see any breeders in Texas. Looks interesting
tho, but it would have to be a bit closer, I don't buy animals sight
unseen. I'll keep looking.

You're absolutely right. I would also like to see a breed before
buying one. Perhaps you could still contact NEMDA, and ask them if
they know any people in your neighbourhood who have an Entlebucher.
Good luck

I've only had the one dog, of many of my dogs, be bitten. It was a fluke
he got it twice.

Yeah, but why risk it with a new dog? Better safe than sorry.

Because it sounds expensive. And I have other dogs. Rattlers are a part
of life here in Texas. It wasn't the snake that caused the death, it
simply contributed. Thanks anyways.

I won't say anymore on this, except that it isn't as expensive as you
might thing it is. And while rattlers are a way of life, your dogs don't
necessarily have to go through life being bitten. Your dog survived it
twice, the next one, might not survive one, even from a baby snake with
less venom. I've heard the classes run for less than a vet visit with the
works (heartworm test, stool sample, couple vaccinations, physical exam).
It's completely your choice, of course.

O.K. then, back on topic. Anyone suggest a dog sized between a beagle
and a Lab?
