Default Pit Bull fighters on the run?

I believed that Michael Vick's indictment for dog fighting and dog
murdering (allegedly) would at least temporarily slow down the so called
blood sport of dog fighting. I considered that people that fight dogs
would give it a rest, out of fear of being arrested themselves. I knew
it was not going to end dog fighting forever, but was gratifed to think
that his arrest was going to put a dent in it, at least for awhile.

James Ling, 28 of Beaufort County, SC was arrested after his LL called
the police to let them know he was gone and that he had left a couple of
Pit Bulls behind. Animal Control arrived and found 3 dogs dead in
various locations and 12 others emaciated and nearly dead. No food or
water, eaten alive with fleas. The rental trailer contained so called
dog fighting equipment. There was a tread mill, syringes, a spring
pole? and other dog fighting equipment. The 12 surviving dogs have been
euthanized. Mr Ling is being held on 33,000 bond. They do not have
proof of dog fighting, so he is charged with 24 misdemeanors and 3
felony charges for the dead dogs.

I knew that dog fighting would slow down and I knew it would be
temporary. I did not take into account how it would slow down. I
really did not consider what would happen to the dogs. I knew they
weren't going to be taken in to be house pets. Basicly, that leaves few
alternatives. Among them is to abandon them to starve to death as Mr
Ling apparently did.

I would rather see a fighting dog humanely euthanized rather than
fighting for his life. I did not consider the ones that are going to be
murdered because they are of no use at the moment or how they were going
to be murdered.
