Are you thinking food or flea bites? I had a dog once that

food, or perhaps environmental ..contact with grass, chemicals
(lawn?), etc

Yes, I'd vote for a contact reaction--to something on the grass
and/or on the carpet.

If a floor or carpet detergent is applied too strongly then this can be
picked up by a pet.

From experience, I can tell you that detergents are consistently applied
without being properly diluted.

Oh, oh... You have a very good point. A few weeks ago I started
washing the floors with a disinfectant cleaner and I must admit I gave
it an extra shot to make sure the floor is clean. I sure wasn't
thinking so I'm convinced that is what it may be.

Thank you
Lori
