Well, I missed all you guys, if you are still around here. Our grandpuppy
Brandy will be crossing rainbow bridge tomorrow morning at 10:00. She is 17
years old, and is no longer enjoying *any* quality of life. Brandy is a
mini-dachshund, and our first *grandpuppy*. She's had a long life, but will
be sorely missed.

best,

td

Godspeed, Brandy. A peaceful passing is a good ending for a long life
well lived and a good alternative to no quality of life at all.

TD!! ltns, and I'm so terribly sorry to hear about Brandy. 17 years is a
decent life for a dog, but it's never long enough. Only time closes that
gaping wound in your heart that you are positive never heals

Thank you Paula, flick and diddy. I don't know if you still light the
candles on Monday, but I wanted you all to *remember* Brandy today/tonight.
I will be lighting mine for all those who have gone before.

We are finally moved into our new house, but in the process I managed to
rupture a couple disc's in my back, so it has been very slow going for me,
settling in. I go to physical therapy twice a week.

Gracie and Merlin are doing well, although 'the hottest summer on record'
here has even slowed them down. We mostly hibernate inside the house where
the air conditioning runs continually.

And being out in the country now, living right next door to one of our other
daughters, ( Monte and Whiskey, and the twins and Jake ), we have already
taken on our first stray/dumped dog. Actually, *we* haven't taken it, my
daughter has. Although Jake was only 1 1/2 when our murphy dog crossed
rainbow bridge, he has named the new dog, the stray, *murphy*. He came up
with that name himself, right out of the blue. I didn't know how that would
*feel*, but so far it's been okay, as this new dog doesn't *look* anything
like *my* murphy.

Hope you and your *babies* are all doing well.

best,

td

Td, I already have Brandy listed in my personal candle lighting ceremony.

I have no idea if anyone else observes monday Remembrance ceremonies or
not.

Yes, she did have a long life; good for you and good for her.
That is how I know when it is time also, when there is no more quality of
life left in them. You just know when it is time. Sorry to hear about
Brandy's time to go; it is always very sad to lose a close family member and
good friend, but in my cases, it was always a very peaceful ending, and
being there at that time with them, made me feel reassured that it was just
that .

Thank you so much for your kind thoughts and words of wisdom.

I neglected to mention that Brandy belongs to our daughter who has an
autistic son who is six years old now. Those who know me from before,
recall I'd dubbed him *baby bubba* at birth. I talked to my daughter this
morning and she said she explained to our grandson to 'say good-bye to
Brandy before he went to school, as she would be going to heaven today.'
They had bought a couple childrens books on 'doggie heaven' to read to him
for the last couple weeks, so as to prepare him.

So when I talked to her this morning I enquired as to how my grandson was
doing. She said when she told him Brandy was going to heaven today, he
paused and asked "When Brandy goes to heaven do you think Murphy dog & Coda
could be Brandy's momma & daddy up in heaven?"

Murphy was our very much loved girl who crossed the Rainbow Bridge at the
age of nearly 14 in 2004, and Coda was their dog, a big chocolate lab, who
had also passed, before *bubba* was born. But Coda's ashes are still right
there with his photo's and such, so bubba knew him that way. My daughter
was quite surprised that bubba would put things together in such a
*positive* way, to perhaps deal with this loss as best as an autistic six
year old is able.

I post this so perhaps someone else might find this useful in the future.

best,

td

Godspeed Brandy.

A good dog, well loved. A long life, well lived. A peaceful passing.

The place she will always hold in your hearts will slowly turn from one of
sadness to one of warm rememberance.
