Default what is this skin problem? (see photo)

Hi,
Our 8 year old Lab has had a crusty, scaly, dry, condition on her paw
for the past few weeks - most of the hair on the spot has been removed
by chewing/licking. Otherwise she is in good health.
Can you diagnose this for us ? See photos.

You bet! Dermatitis which requires a veterinarian to look at it!

What do you think it will cost for a vet to look at my dog
and tell me what to put on it ?

That really depends on where you live and which vet you choose
and what, if any, diagnostic tests the vet needs to do. Prices
vary a lot. Where do you take your dog for annual shots? Can
you call them and ask what they charge for office visits?

If your dog is 8, I hate to tell you this, but it would be a good
idea to find a vet whom you trust and can afford. Your dog is at
an age where diseases of old age may begin to appear.

Call and ask what the practice charges for an exam. Where the doctor goes
from there to make a diagnosis will dictate further charges. Diagnostics
have charges. However, he/she may prescribe a treatment simply from the
exam. You'll only know if you ask.

Thanks to all for your helpful replies -
It seems whenever I go to a vet they seem to be able to find enough
things wrong with the dog to work up a $350 bill which is why I was
hoping to
find some remedy on this site.
I get the shots done at an annual government clinic.
I will try getting a quote over the phone from a vet.
Thanks again.
