Scooter has the annoying habit of taking a long time to poop when
first let out in the morning even though he pees right away. I don't
like standing around outside forever, so I have been teaching him a
new command. "Go potty" already gets him to pee, so now I tell him
after he goes potty to "go poopies" and praise him when he poops. We
just started this routine yesterday. So this morning, when my
daughter was taking the dogs out for morning potty duty, I figured I
should remind her of the new routine. "Be sure to tell him to go
poopies!" I called as she headed for the door. Scooter turned around,
looked at me with his biggest good dog grin and squatted right there
on the kitchen floor. When he'd done his business, he ran up to me to
get a reward, secure in the belief that he had been a very good dog in
responding so quickly to my command.

He needs to learn how to scoop poop and mop floors.

This is a perfect reason why we s-p-e-l-l things.

Smart dog!

My daughter and I use spanish to converse about sensitive topics, such
as "getting the dogs their supper". It allows us to negotiate issues
like whether it needs to be done right now, this instant, or whether it
can wait until you've finished what ever it is you're currently doing.

But if the dogs hear you mention anything about breakfast, supper or
eating, in english, it triggers an immediate storm of begging, and so
much for any hope of sitting down, scanning the headlines and drinking a
cup of coffee.

And some here claim that dogs don't confuse conversation with
command. Bad Matt.

I bet Scooter knew *exactly* what he was doing. He sounds like an evil
doggie genius in the making.

Yeah, I would check his paws for thumb nubs and I would lock up all the
tools and any other potential weapons of mass destruction. You haven't
had a clipboard go missing, recently, have you?

Also, check your credit card statements very carefully.

He has already developed an addiction to pupperoni. That's the real
secret. If I have the pupperoni container out, you can see the wheels
spinning as he tries to figure out what I want him to do so he can
have some. It started when he would go in his kennel on command and
I'd tell him he was a good boy and deserved a pupperoni while giving
him one. It evolved to mentioning pupperoni sending him running to
his kennel. Now that he gets pupperoni for other tricks, he's just
looking at what else you might him to do for the doggie crack.

He is getting good at sitting to be petted. Except with the girls.
I've noticed he still jumps up on their legs. Most likely because
they pet him and love on him when he does. Bad girls!

If you mention breakfast to Faith, she whimpers and shivers in
anticipation, and dances around the front door. When you let her out,
she does her gazelle dance all the around the yard and over to the
car. Going to breakfast means Anna is going to sneak her out her
favorites in a doggie bag and she gets a feast.
