That's pretty much my take as well. While GR rescue has taken dogs who
have lived in similar situations, they seem to have an amazing ability
to withstand it and connect with people. That's largely because of the
breed tendencies (rather than peeing on owners). Dogs like the Eskie
don't make it in most shelter programs. Private/breed rescue are
really the only chance they are going to get. Since I've never done
Eskie rescue, I just haven't had to deal with dogs this shut off.
