Demon and Pudge dream a LOT. And movement and audibles range from
running in place (on their sides), paw twitching from the wrist, barking, howling, whining, and sometimes even yelping. When I hear whining and yelping I wake them up gently as it almost makes me want to cry to think they are being tormented in their sleep. I rescued them from a horrible situation when they were puppies because I wanted to see them receive better care, that is why it bothers me. Anyway... Every thing I found on "dog" and "dreams" or "dreaming" came up with analytical papers or research not relating to anything medical. Is there cause to be concerned if they have extremely animated and audible dreams? Thanks. -- -Lost Remove the extra words to reply by e-mail. Don't e-mail me. I am kidding. No I am not. |

How do you know they're being tormented? They're probably chasing cats! .......dogs don't hold grudges, don't wake up every day remembering what their situation was 1 home ago. That's a human thing. Try to be more like your dog. Wake up every day looking forward to breakfast. Don't dwell on yesterday. buglady take out the dog before replying |

How do you know they're being tormented? They're probably chasing cats! I do not. But I would rather be safe than sorry. And of course chasing cats is not acceptable. *glances over at the kitten* Haha. Seriously though, I just cannot understand why they would be yelping. They only do it while awake if they get scared or hurt. So it made sense to me that they feel scared or as if they are being hurt in their dreams. I could be wrong. ......dogs don't hold grudges, don't wake up every day remembering what their situation was 1 home ago. That's a human thing. Try to be more like your dog. I have not found much in the way of that subject and my experience is that animals (at least dogs) do indeed remember what has previously happened to them. Thanks for the feedback. I appreciate it. -- -Lost Remove the extra words to reply by e-mail. Don't e-mail me. I am kidding. No I am not. |

They may have reactions that are in response to something that happened to them in the past, but I doubt it's giving them nightmares. buglady take out the dog before replying |

You said they "don't wake up every day remembering what their situation was 1 home ago." 2. I did not say that I thought their past experiences were giving them nightmares. Just that I do not wish to see them tormented in their sleep. Thanks for all your feedback though, I do appreciate it. -- -Lost Remove the extra words to reply by e-mail. Don't e-mail me. I am kidding. No I am not. ========== My dog does that all the time. She looks like she is running, and every once in awhile she makes a little wince. I always feel she is dreaming of her run through the forest. That is her favorite time of the day. It is quite a picture to see her joyfully running freely through the tall pine trees. That is all I think those dreams are about. I never feel they are bad dreams. |

I am going to just go with it like diddy, buglady, and you suggest... ....let it go and hope they are having awesome dreams instead of poopy ones. I will just chock it up to mood swings if I feel a twinge of sadness when I hear them yelp. Thanks, pfoley! -- -Lost Remove the extra words to reply by e-mail. Don't e-mail me. I am kidding.
