Is anyone familiar with the male neutering procedure where rather than
remove the testicles, they perform something similar to a vasectomy? I never heard of this but a bredder indicated that is what her vet does. |

It's not something done in the Uk that I am aware of, I work in a veterinary clinic and no one has talked about this or heard anyone that does it here. |

There was a Furry guy who used to post here who was rabid about vasectomies and tubals instead of traditional speutering. His kink was *not* okay. Apparently there are vets who will do those surgeries, but I have no idea how many. It seems to me that it would defeat the purpose of speutering for most folks. -- Shelly http://www.cat-sidh.net (the Mother Ship) http://esther.cat-sidh.net (Letters to Esther) |

If the *ultimate* purpose is to not produce more unwanted puppies, then it seems like that would be a grand solution for the folks that are squicked out by full neutering of male dogs. I know a few guys that would probably consider Vasectomies for their dogs if they were available, but instead just insist on keeping them intact because they can't bring themselves to "de-nut" their dog. And getting tubes tied would be a far less invasive surgery than a full hysterectomy for females. Less costly too, I'm guessing. I could see a decent market for those services. And I wish they were more prevalently availabel to folks. More choices, when it comes to keeping the numbers of animals out of shelters, can only be a good thing, IMO Tara |
