Now, why they can't just deal with those people and leave everyone else
out of it, beats me.

Because that's how administration works. Send a note to everyone, then they
don't have to deal with the individual who's causing the trouble. It's the
chicken way of dealing with problems. Happens at our school all the time.
General announcements (for example, about being late to work or wearing
inappropriate shoes) instead of discussing it with the offender(s).

It's not like they don't know who's late or wearing flip flops. They just
don't want to *be the boss* and deal with the issue directly. We have 1 or
2 staff members who are habitually late, but we get general announcements on
our daily announcement sheet about it repeatedly. It sure doesn't solve the
problem because these people don't think they're the ones the note refers
to. It's the Ann Landers/letter to the editor syndrome. They're not
talking about me.

I say "man up" (so to speak - our last 3 out of 4 administrators were/are
women) and talk to the person who's causing the trouble. If I'm not the
issue, then don't bother me. It's the professional thing to do.
