First of all - I honestly care what anybody thinks about anybody. And
I don't really care if a guy who has good info is a grade-A nutcase - I ain't havin' dinner with him. That said, I have never seen anybody, with a theory that actually sounds doable to me, go out of his way to **** OFF SO MANY FRIGGIN PEOPLE, when he could do a lot better if he were more realistic about dealing with people. Hey - I've yanked a leash or two in my day - how the hell are you supposed to learn anything until you come across it - and just because I yanked a leash or two doesn't mean I'm gonna take **** off of a raving loony. I have tried the techniques laid out by the professional "yankers" and "screamers" and I'm simply not interested in that method anymore. I love my dog and he loves me - that right there should be enough to build a learning experience on. Here's the deal - I'm gonna read that manual just like I have read SO many other dog training books and see what it says to me. The parts I have read so far don't seem crazy to me. In fact, the TINY bit I've tried so far have had positive effect (don't go quoting me Jerry, I am NOT a believer yet, and 15 minutes has long gone by). But I will give anything a chance if it sounds like it's worth a try, plus the price is right. So, if ya have any comments JH, for GOD's SAKE, make them short FOR ONCE IN YOUR LIFE and I may actually read them. |

Ok - well I'm gonna give it a try. I don't really care what anybody
else says. Sure seems a lot better that pinching, yanking, spraying or yelling at a dog. ESPECIALLY seems a lot better that PAYING someone to teach you how to mistreat a dog. I won't even ask you to condense your posts anymore - I have seen some wisdom in each of them, however hard it is to get through them. By the time I'm done, my EYES ARE BLEEDIN' ! But that's cool - my dog's worth it. |

In response to Jerry Howe - Wow. I can't decide if you are trying to help me or not - I'll let you know in a couple of days when I finish reading the lengthy replies. If you are, may I suggest CONDENSING your point a little, Don't bother. He's a psychopath. He bangs out hundreds of lines of gibberish because he's mentally ill. Please do not respond to him. If you must, please trim out all of the other groups he includes... he's killfiled in most of them, and a lot of people only see his insane rantings when someone like you replies to him. Don't waste your time. Add him to your killfile and get advice from people who have a high-order brain functions. -- * John Oliver http://www.john-oliver.net/ * |
