Default Shelter Pets

This is what I see on our local craigslist on a daily basis. These are some
of one days postings, today. For anyone who lives in areas where you say
there are waiting lists for shelter pets, can't something be done to save
some of these pets? I posted an article earlier today stating that more
than 80 thousand animals are put down here yearly, and that was only the
count for 15 counties. Just the 15 counties around the Charlotte, N.C.
area, certainly not one of our poorest county areas in the state.

They promised to let the dogs go out for a walk.

For the last 5 months, no dog can go out for a walk.

They cannot figure out a way to let volunteers walk a dog on a leash.

They claim they need to "change back door security locks."

They cannot WALK THE TALK THEY SPEAK."

HO HUM...MORNING PTS LIST BEING DONE NOW...ANOTHER DAY...ANOTHER DOG IN THE
DUMPSTER.

SO MUCH FOR WAKE COUNTY ANIMAL SHELTER.

THIS DOG WAS KILLED FOR NO REASON.

There are some animals at Harnett County Animal Shelter that need to be
adopted by Tuesday. I don't have a list of them yet, but they do have some
cats, dogs, kittens and puppies.

Each animal is only $20 to adopt. The shelter is open daily for adoptions
from 1-4. They are closed on Wed. You must bring a prepaid rabies receipt or
you can have your vet fax one over to them.

To get directions and their phone number go to their website at:

http://www.harnettanimalcontrol.com

Thanks.

Can anyone help by adopting or fostering?
This sweet boy, german shepherd 6-8 months old is still waiting today for a
loving home. He has been at the shelter almost two weeks and the shelter is
only required to hold animals for 72 hours after they come in so his
situation is desperate. He could be euthanized at any time so if you are
interested, please call to tell them immediately! The phone number at the
shelter is 919-776-7446. His ID # is 12211. Thanks to anyone who can help!
If you cannot adopt or foster at this time, will you send this info out to
all your contacts?

Could someone pull these 2 puppies and take them to the vet immediately.
They
both are full of worms and fleas. I will be more than happy to help with the
vet bills. Maybe other people could also help. Please do not let these
puppies
be put to death in this situation.

Thanks for any help.

Please follow the link for some of the Wake County Animal Shelter dogs. Some
may not be there, so call before you go with the dog's impound number. I
haven't finished updating all the dogs because I was getting physically sick
to my stomach after seeing all the owner turn-ins! You know who you are -
please do not get another dog or any other pet.

For the people who have dumped their pets at the shelter, please check out
the "gone but not forgotton link"

Ok, so the last call if you want any dogs is tomorrow at 9:30 am. That way I
can have the shelter volunteer pull when I have on my list and I can meet
her. So far I only have Missy that is for sure taken. I am going to foster
either Buttons or Silky so one of those two will be in foster. Right now
those are the only two that will be walking out of the shelter. I know you
guys can do better then this! There are a ton of adoptable ones there! The
adoption fee will either be $15 if I can get the rescue rate or $27.50 if I
cannot. I just ask that you reimburse the fee. I can also deworm the puppies
for $2 extra. Please check the website out as well as the two new dogs I
posted.

Available thru Bladen County Shelter are (2) One Year in age purebred Yellow
Labs! If anyone can adopt these 2 I will offer my services to arrange
adoption and transportation. PLEASE let anyone you know who is a lab fan
that these two are available: Neil & Naylor
UPDATE 10/18/2007: I did speak w/Sylvia and she said the labs were basically
placed in a kennel by previous owner and neglected, the two needs to be in
separate homes due to they have issues w/eachother but are in kennels now
with other dogs and they have had no issues w/other dogs.
Sharing a kennel together may have had them fighting over food & one trying
to alpha dog, one is very thin. They are young and high energy, patience &
training will be needed.
I am heading to Bladen County tomorrow morning if anyone is willing to help
these 2 boys!

Bladen county shelter is full---Rescue needed TODAY!

Bladen county is overrun with beautiful adoptable dogs! Adoption fees are
low -and transportation assistance can be provided. Contact Silvia today to
make arrangements to save one of these pets in need.

I have decided to extend the time frame for people wanting to pull animals.
I will be having them pulled either tonight if I have enough reponse from
people or tomorrow morning. So please email if you want something. Silvia
said there were more dogs turned in today so I will get those pictures to
everyone when she sends them to me.

please help these puppies at franklin county animal shelter!!

We are on our third row of dogs at the shelter, that is more than 30 some
dogs. Each row has 10 kennels. All the dogs are not posted to petfinders. A
select few kennels have more than one dog in them. If you can help these
companions in anyway, please email me at

and I will assist you as best as I can.

How sad!

There may be ways to help if you and others in your community are willing to
help. First of all, find out what if any dog rescues work in your area. If
there aren't any, call the nearby ones and offer to be a volunteer that can
do temperament tests or transports. Find out from the shelters if they work
with any rescues, and offer to help by being a liaison or with transports to
rescue.

For specific purebred dogs in rescue (they'll be easier to place, I
suspect), call the nearby breed specific rescues.

GSD rescue: http://www.gsdrescue.org/adopt.html

Lab Rescue: http://www.labrescuenc.org/

Bulldog Rescue: http://www.rescuebulldogs.org/rescue...escueroster.pl

Just about every rescue I know will be more willing/able to work with you if
you have the means to help out in some way. Also, since local rescues may
be full to overflowing, it would help to contact ones that operate in nearby
states.
