Default How to control diabetes with a finicky eater?

My 14 year old used to be a finiky eater but eats great now.
All I can say is, have you tried a Kong? You put the food in
it and it is a big game for the dog to get it out.

I give my dog 3 "snacks" a day for medical reasons and if
before he would not eat a snack I would put the food in the
Kong and - hey presto - he would eat it all up.They are pretty
good toys.

Good luck with your dog, sorry I can't be more help...

My dachshund is 15 years old and was diagnosed as diabetic a couple of
years back. He has been having small seizures at about the same time
every day in the morning so I did some research and it seems as if he
is having "secondary seizures". He has lost all use of his front legs
as of a few months back. I am not sure of the source of his seizures,
but having low blood sugar is one of them. Today I gave his shot and
he had only a small bit of food. He eats in spurts so I want to know
the best way to administer insulin for a dog that has erratic eating
habits the way he does? He is on 9 units twice daily.

thanks
