My 13-1/2 year old Boston has had a heart murmur forever. It has gotten
worse in the last year and is now at a stage 5 (two vets came to the same conclusion). The younger vet put him on 5mg of Enacard. It made him sick and I decided it was better for nature to take it's course than have him in discomfort 3-4 days out of the week. I contacted the vet and she wants a cardiologist to do an ultra sound. When I ask why she responds "to find out the extent of the murmur and what medications he may suggest." When I point out to her two vets independently came to the conclusion that it was a stage 5 murmur and what could the cardiologist determine beyond that she did not provide me with a good answer. She also could not provide me with a good answer when I asked her what drugs the cardiologist may suggest that we have not considered. Anyway at this point we are going back for x-rays (others taken 3 months ago) to determine if there is fluid buildup which will mean taking a diuretic. We may also try another drug which is a newer generation of Enacard. |
