Thank you. That's what we are doing.

It's really important to get separate 1:1 training time.
Fortunately it's really not a huge time commitment
(particularly with puppies) - grap a few minutes here and
there a couple of times/day, keep the sessions short,
focused, and lively. Never bore your dogs.

One thing that's really simple that I like to do with my
pack is a kibble throwing exercise - say the dog's name,
toss him a piece of kibble. Say another dog's name, toss
her a piece of kibble. Other dogs are not allowed to try to
take the kibble that's for another dog. It helps keep
attention focused appropriately and is fun for everybody.
Again, short, focused, and lively.

The woman in Anchorage whose housedogs dominate 6-dog
limited classes in Alaska has all females. Nearly all of
them are spayed, but she likes to leave her stars intact in
case she decides to breed one. She'd just as soon avoid the
management problems associated with having intact males and
females together (not to mention the inevitability of an
oops), and so it's all girls.

My next dog will be male. Crow's just too much of a pill
with the other females.

Oh, I'll still have a girldog, but it won't be a Boxer or any other
bully breed. But a girl of another breed won't be a girl Boxer, and
I suspect there are things about having a girl Boxer that I'll miss.
Boy Boxers are great and all, but they are not the same thing as
girl Boxers.

i love the boys, too, mind you.

Exactly. They're different, and I really miss that.

breed, i'm comfortable with this breed. and that means one girldog at
a time.

My Master Plan *does* include the incorporation of another breed,
though. That in itself is a little nerve wracking, but it's
(hopefully!) a long way off yet.

And then again, maybe I'll do something ridiculous and just switch
to Briards or Dutchies.

what i appreciate in luce and miss in the boys is intensity. they're
goofy mcgoofersons, and while i love that about them, i wish there
were other sides.

That's what I'm talking about. I'm afraid that I'll miss that with
boy Boxers, but at the same time, I already *do* miss having a goofy
boydog.

ooooh dutchies.they're pretty.

Yes, indeed, and coveting one for that reason is guaranteed to end
in tears.

i was looking at malinois rescue a couple weeks ago. i think i'm out
of my gourd.

Me, too, clearly!

just say the word and i'll send mushroom for a vacation to your house!

And when I "forgot" to return him, you'd regret that offer!

he is the ubergoof. he's a little short for a boxer though.

Not to worry. We don't discriminate here.

If I had my way, I think that I would only have boy dogs from now on. I
love my girldog, and many of the other girldogs I've known, but even the
most benign of them seem to have agendas, and I like my dogs to be pretty
transparent.

If I were to only have one dog, it would be a boy, With multiples I
like to mix it up. That mix of 3 (my upper limit) will undoubtedly be 2
of one gender and 1 of the other, but there are a lot of factors there,
and I sure know that the "future plans" don't always work out the way
you think they will.

You don't want to know just how close I came to sending in an app for a Leo
puppy. Thankfully, the questionnaire was so long and involved and it took
such a long time that it allowed sufficient time for the little grey cells
to kick in.

But Leo puppies are beeeooootiful!

I have NO breed loyalty.
