Prior to calling the company of the dog food with onion powder in it, I
called my vet. She assured me that any onion and garlic is fine except fresh/raw. Then I called the company (Masterfoods USA) who confirmed what the vet said. They also said the nutrients in the food once cooked is actually healthy. A google search on the net will find many sources telling me that onion powder is bad. Who is right? Who is wrong? I don't know but I can tell you who is frustrated and that's me! Also, I noticed something in the food that I feed that I did not notice before "grapeseed oil". If grapes are bad, and raisins too, what's the deal with that? I asked the vet and she said it is ok. The food is Flint River Ranch Lamb and Rice Millet in case anyone cares. In my searching online or at the food I have here, I found onion or garlic powder in: ~certain flavors of Everlasting Treats ~Nature's Recipe Training Treats ~Canine Carryouts Beef Flavor ~Snausages Snaw Somes Peanut Butter & Apple Flavor ~Puperonies ~Jenny, Maui and Cali ![]() |

Your vet is incorrect, and frankly, I wouldn't take nutrition advice from a vet unless I have a good reason to believe that she knows what she's talking about. Then I called the company (Masterfoods USA) who confirmed what the vet said. They also said the nutrients in the food once cooked is actually healthy. They have a vested interest in telling you their ingredients are "healhy." A google search on the net will find many sources telling me that onion powder is bad. Who is right? Who is wrong? Your vet is incorrect, and frankly, I wouldn't take nutrition advice from a vet unless I have a good reason to believe that she knows what she's talking about. I don't consider this nutrition advice. I consider it health related information and I think this is something a vet should know. Then I called the company (Masterfoods USA) who confirmed what the vet said. They also said the nutrients in the food once cooked is actually healthy. They have a vested interest in telling you their ingredients are "healhy." of course, I did mention this to them too. alternatives. I CANNOT TELL A LIE. I have been known to jackpot with Snausages. -- they were a first here. I saw the peanut butter and apple flavor in the store and bought it. now I will have to return it. it smelled good and the dogs enjoyed it but they will make do. especially since I am making dehyrated apples this weekend and they sometimes get peanut butter in their kongs |
