A 40# bag is $46 and then they quote a delivery fee of about $10.50, so it's still not cheap. If the bag of Momentum works out I'll probably drive out to Fort Ann and pick up 8 or 10 bags, which even at the crazy price gas is right now would be cheaper than having it shipped. I guess I'll have a guest bedroom full of dog food. -- Melinda Shore - Software longa, hardware brevis - Prouder than ever to be a member of the reality-based community |

Current coupon is for 15% off. Theirs have gone as high as 22% recently, which should come pretty close to offsetting the shipping costs. What I've done in the past is to look through the list of treats (and they sure have some interesting stuff), and add a bunch of those as well. Treats don't contribute significantly to the weight, but offset the costs, so the shipping ends up costing nothing. I normally shop for a bunch of stuff all at once anyway, so this works out. Suja |

: By comparison, local pet supply store that carried it was in Alexandria in a strip mall with little parking, and charged $38 plus tax for it. Yikes! It's around $29 here, which puts it within range of supermarket "premium" foods. -- Shelly http://www.cat-sidh.net (the Mother Ship) http://esther.cat-sidh.net (Letters to Esther) |

I've been feeding Flint River Ranch for several months. It is free
shipping, can't beat that! The way that works is that the shipping costs are absorbed into the feed prices. It's only $19.99 for 10 pounds, not that expensive that I would think they make that much for free shipping. But to be honest I'm not interested in feeding FRR to my dogs. really, what's wrong with it? |

I've been feeding Flint River Ranch for several months. It is free shipping, can't beat that! Melinda is right. It's expensive, which makes up for the free shipping. I didn't think it was expensive. I get 10 pounds for $20 or 20 pounds for $30. What is everyone else paying for food? I'm also not too keen on their food or the way they distribute it (MLM, ugh). MLM? |

Canidae is my second choice, and it's usually about $30 for 40lbs, so about half the price of FRR. MLM? Multi-level marketing. Think Amway/Quickstar. -- Shelly http://www.cat-sidh.net (the Mother Ship) http://esther.cat-sidh.net (Letters to Esther) |

I find that I can get really good feeds for somewhere in the neighborhood of $1/pound if I buy big bags. really, what's wrong with it? I have no idea one way or the other, since when I looked I couldn't find enough nutritional information about it to know whether or not I should consider it. It may be great, it may be awful - I really don't know. -- Melinda Shore - Software longa, hardware brevis - Prouder than ever to be a member of the reality-based community |

I liked it but didn't love it, and $2/pound is about twice what I'm paying for Eukanuba locally (and the Momentum costs less than the Eukanuba, although there are shipping, uh, "issues"). I don't think grains are evil, and I believe that's what you're paying for (no-grain cachet) with Evo. Well that may be the company line, but that's not why I'm feeding it FWIW. I don't think grains are evil either. But I wanted a company that had more strict quality control. I waffled between the Evo and the Innova (which does have grains). Happened to try the Evo first and it works very well for my guys, so I have stuck with it. I was another melamine switcher. |
