rec.pets.dogs.behavior: I'm waiting for the Trite Pendulum to swing from whisperer to shouterer before I launch that particular vehicle. It's already moving... I know you like Cesar, and I'm on record as liking him in a general way, but that dang "whisperer" adjective has turned me off from the day Monty (or his people) coined it. -- --Matt. I've been drawing pears for the past few days, and Harriet is *sure* that she should have one. Last night, she poked the stupid pear I was drawing with her nose, pushing it off the coffee table. Today, I had a large box of watercolor pencils sitting on the couch next to me, and she parked herself right on top of them. It turns out, 72 Pick-up is not a very fun game. I forgot the pear on the coffee table, and just returned from checking the mail to find it in the middle of the living room floor, full of tooth marks. http://www.flickr.com/photos/cat-sidh/1937200500/ Harriet had the good sense to scram when she heard me come back inside, but since the cat DOES NOT HAVE TEETH, I think it's obvious who the culprit is. So, if anyone wants a slightly used Boxer with a pear fetish, please to be letting me know. You mean she chomped it but didn't eat it?! My merry band of mental midgets scarfed down green apples off of the neighbor's overhanging tree, with predictable results. They also pilfered tomatoes out of my daughter's salsa garden. The jrt likes rose petals. And Zane eats the hibiscus bush, but that's more like jihad than grazing. Sometimes he just has the urge to launch a savage attack the shrubbery. |

Just long enough for her to struggle with her pear lust, her pear lust to win, and her to steal the pear and put a few tooth marks in it. Harriet is a grazer, and will steal fruit that's down or already picked. And veggies. Elliott used to go out to the raspberry patch and pick-n-eat berries. I loved watching him delicately pull back his lips and pluck fruit with just his front teefies, and then, the nom nom nom. I've never had a dog with a shrubbery fetish, though. : Seriously. Think outside the box, man! I mean, woman! Well, it's all slushy and rotteny this morning, so I think I'll just lob it into the thicket for the birds. And then, the grocery store, to procure more pears. Because not only am I insane enough to do NaNoWriMo and NoMoBloMo (or whatever the hell it's called), but I'm also doing a pear journal, because I have a painting I want to do of pears, and I needs me some practice, practice, practice. -- Shelly http://www.cat-sidh.net (the Mother Ship) http://esther.cat-sidh.net (Letters to Esther) |
