No opinion on the author, but it is an interesting topic. Folks have
such ideas of what to feed a dog or treat a dog with. I never give
them meat bones, not because I think they're bad, but because it
creates bad behavior in our older dog. No bones, no garbage digging.
Give her bones, next thing you know she's tipping the garbage over.
I do give them raw veggies a lot. Raw baby carrots are a favorite.
Cabbage hearts, broccoli stems. They love it. And I know it's
healthy. Grapes and celery aren't so popular. People come visit us
and think we're daft for the raw carrots, but we treat their doggies
and they are amazed. Even people can learn new tricks!
If I make homemade soup sometimes I put the broth with their regular
dry food. My husband has been eating tuna lately and it's bad... we
don't give them tuna but it sure does draw them to the garbage. No
incidents yet...
I came to this group hoping to find discussions on cattle dogs...
*sigh* I know they are very popular but folks just don't talk much
about them on Usenet. Such a bummer!
