Hello everyone
Looking for some more sage advice from you all! My dog has fractured his toe (he injured it 3 days ago, but seemed to be getting better except when he jumped up on or off furniture). The thing is, I am supposed to be flying overseas tomorrow. The vet said he should just have painkillers whilst in kennels and then get toe & nail amputated when I come back (in 3 weeks). I was a bit concerned and asked what if I cancelled flights, etc and went away in 2 weeks. She advised they would amputate now, but 2 weeks might not be enough for it to heal and bandages to come off and might be best to wait till I'm back. I'm in a quandary; I obviously want the best for him, but not sure if I should wait till I come back or get it done now and hope he's healed in 2 weeks (I can't avoid going away and 2 weeks would be max I could wait at home). Would appreciate any input/advice from anyone (I know the vet would be the best to advise, but in the circumstances, she seems to think either option would be the same) BTW, he's a 10-yr old Jack Russell... Many thanks for your help regards Mags |

They never mentioned amputating it, and it healed up fine. |
